Kombo North feeder roads rehabilitation completed

Africa » Gambia
Monday, July 02, 2012

The Kombo North feeder roads rehabilitation scheme, sponsored by the Brikama Area Council at the tune of D393, 000 has been completed, officials disclosed. The scheme saw the rehabilitation of roads in Busumbala, Old Yundum, Sanchaba Sulay Jobe and Brufut. The rehabilitation contract was awarded to the Torodo Builders Company at the aforementioned tune.

Speaking to the Daily Observer, the councilor of the area, Bolong B.L.K Jatta described the project as timely, given that the rainy season has just begun. Describing the rehabilitation of the roads as standard work, Jatta, on behalf of the beneficiary communities commended the management, as well as the Planning and Development unit of the Council for the initiative.

Also speaking to this paper, acting development officer of Council, Paul Alex Mendy, who is also overseeing the roads rehabilitation project, expressed satisfaction about the standard nature of the work done.

The public relations officer of the Council, Modou Jonga, for his part, reiterated the Council’s unreserved commitment in providing basic needs for the people of the West Coast Region. He disclosed that the Council recently spent D396, 400 to rehabilitate four feeder roads in Brikama last week.

He used the opportunity to call on the people of the area to always pay their rates, taxes and other dues to the Council in order for it to undertake development projects in the region.
