koukoie samba sanyang's letter to president abdoulaye wade Close contact exposed

Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, November 24, 2009
This is the scoop of the year 2009.  President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal is in close contact with Koukoie Samba Sanyang, a Gambian dissident and leader of the July 1981 obortive coup.

The letter from Koukoie to President Wade dated April 26, 2009 obtained by the Daily Observer, authenticates that the Senegalese leader has had closed door meetings with the Gambian dissident in Dakar and has agreed to support him to perpetrate illegal and undemocratic acts against the decent government and the people of The Gambia.

What is more amazing is that President Wade, who claims to be an elderly statesman and true pan-Africanist could abet the likes of Koukoie, a man who had wrecked havoc on his compatriots and continuingly refused to repent and join the bandwagon of developing The Gambia.
The international bodies such as Ecowas, AU and the UN should publicly condemn President Wade?s continous habouring and abetting of Gambian dissidents in Senegal against the peace-loving government and people of The Gambia.

In our yesterday issue, we published the original letter from Koukoie to President Wade, written in French.  In today?s edition we translate the letter into English for the benefit of our esteemed readers.Read on, you will be really surprised with its contents.
Dakar, 26 April 2009

His ExcellencyMaître Abdoulaye WadePresident of the Republic of Senegal
Mr. President,
My Very Dear Papa, praise be to Allah the creator of the universe and earth; saviour of human beings, source of our security, defense, help and survival.

May the blessing, grace and mercy of Allah be unto you and, may He grant you peace and security. Please accept my best wishes of good health, happiness, prosperity and success in  your noble duty as President of the Republic of Senegal. May the glory and peace of Allah remain in Senegal as your reinforce unity among your people. I pray to Allah the Almighty and the Beneficent to reunite in peace and perfect harmony, some of your citizens who have been divided by politics.Salvation is unto the honest and humanist person who relies on Allah for their success and survival. Salvation is unto the person who defends the weak and poor.  May the Almighty Allah grant long life and happiness to such persons.  May HE protect these types of persons from falling into the hands of enemies.

Your Excellency and Very Dear Papa, the justice you are dispensing within the framework of democracy makes the Senegalese nation great, but also the injustice that you abhor and fight against relentlessly, will never bring shame to the Senegalese and African peoples. I am confident that your truthfulness, frankness and determination, the uttering and dishonesty of neo-colonial leaders, the stooges of imperialism will not be able to destroy the total liberation and unification process of the African continent.

I am very proud of you as a tireless pan-Africanist, because you embody the bright future of a united Senegambia and united Africa.  You are on the right path that leads to total independence and unity of Africa, absolute justice and dignity for Africans.  Your honesty will bring about proper development and better life for Africans. Unlike other African Heads of state who are traitors to the African cause, you do not hide the truth from Africans to make them suffer.  Your frankness is a source of solace, happiness, peace, honour and hope for Africa.

Africa is so much in need of dignified, open-minded and objective people who are concerned about the success of Africa, but not rotten products of Western civilization or stooges of its hegemony. You are indeed that dignified son Africa needs.  This is because you are honest, responsible and courageous. Every pan-Africanist acknowledges that your visions are centred on the unity of Senegambia and Africa, which will ensure the progress of democracy and the maintenance of peace in a free and democratic world.  Above all, you are a visionary.  You are truthful, sincere and pragmatic.  You are very responsible politician who is full of sensitivity.  You are always aiming to improve the living conditions of Africans.  Africa is pleased to see that you are proud of being an African.  Do not lose the chance of giving to Africa what it merits tomorrow.

These are no compliments and we are not showering you with such, because all the fruits of the future are found in today?s seedlings.  There is evidence, and for you to be convinced about it, look at the efforts you are making to unite Africa together simply for it to reassert its rightful place in the comity of nations. All the European countries, the United States of America, the Arab and Asian countries have had their individual glory and pride.  It is therefore more than necessary to endeavour so that Africa, having contributed to the enrichment of those who mocked at its status, can also witness glory and pride.

Mr. President, your commitment for one, united and strong Africa, I am convinced, is to see a major lifeline needed by our continent with all the ills on earth. Africans live in the hope of being part and parcel to a new Africa in which ?there will no longer be oppressed, demoralized, empty, brutal and enslaved individuals, but free brothers and sisters in Africa over whom will fly the banner of equality?. It should be noted and acknowledged that, only a united Africa will pave the way to the continent?s freedom from poverty and underdevelopment.  A united Africa will also enable us to vehemently fight and oppose imperialism and neocolonialism in all their forms and ramifications.

The African countries should work closely together in order to find solutions to their numerous social, political and economic problems.  The unity of Africa is an economic necessity.  If we fail to work honestly together, we will be marginalized and continually expoited by others. The road that leads to the unity of Africa is full of obstacles.  It will not be so easy; we should expect numerous problems of resistance and setbacks.  The current trend in the world is geared towards social, political and economic integration. Africa the cradle of humanity and origin of all sciences and civilizations needs this unity to face up to the enemy both inside and outside. My Very Dear Papa, once again I want to repeat that I am not showering you with compliments. The future and fruits of honour for our continent are found in the seedlings of today.  Africa is pleased with your sense of pan-Africanism for the glorious and triumphant future of the continent.

Please continue to defend Africa and, a gallant, free and dignified Africa you will have shaped will tomorrow sing praises to you in pride and gratitude. Dear Papa, outstanding politician, man of truth and progress, I am pleading for you to help me.  I want you to know that if you remain insensitive to my patriotic, pan-Africanist and Senegambian call for the union of Senegambia, my plans will forever remain in the innermost depth of the dustbin of African history.

I leave it to Allah and to you Dear Papa and die-hard pan-Africanist, to help liberate The Gambia from the militaro-fascist domination; do everything possible to bring peace in Casamance and without condition, start the process of building the unity of Senegambia. For the love of Allah and humanty, and for the progress of a unified Senegambia nation-state, I beg you to do all in your power to help us in the process of restoring democracy in The Gambia and peace in Casamance.  We also want you to work sincerely with us to ensure the achieveent of the Senegambia union, which was sabotaged by enemies of the unity of Senegambia. Help us achieve the programme of Senegambian unity.  This is so dear to all pan-Africanists in Senegambia and that such a unity is vital for our survival.

Our pan-Africanist and patriotic choice demand strong attachment to democracy and development for Senegambia in unity, by relying on the necessity and urgency to redirect our political efforts of mobilization and solidarity, but also to set up new bases and forms for the organisation and execution of our plan of action.  This is to enable us achieve the great exciting dream of unified Senegambia. Only Allah can testify to our attachment to the idea of unifying Senegal and The Gambia in one nation-state with two working languages, French and English.I seek refuge in Allah to bear me witness and protect me because I am innocent.  I did not participate in sabotaging the programme we set out in 2002.

Honestly, I do not have to own up to a crime I have not committed.  What happened was the work of the devil that separates man from the truth. Sincerity is always the hallmark of honest men and not traitors. Since our last meeting at State House with your former Prime Minister, Idrissa SECK, and Mr. Cheick Tijan Gadio, Minister of Foreign Affairs during which you requested that we work and cooperate hand in hand, I have had the misfortune of falling into the dirty hands of a swindler and traitor of the nation of Senegambia.  This is none other than Cheick Malick Cisse who was playing the role of coordinator of our efforts.  He intentionaly and criminally sabotaged our plan of action.

I was cut off from all contacts with  you and I had neither the coordinates nor the means to contact your two collaborators whom you requested to work with me. For security reasons I could not make noise so that you would be aware of the difficult situation that Commandant Malick CISSE created just to prevent me from seeing you because he has betrayed you by sitting on the small amount of money you gave to ease my travels and contacts with other Gambian compatriots, for the preparation of a concrete programme of action to facilitate the agreed operation.
I have living witnesses to testify and clarify the issue of the betrayal and failture. Every effort to contact you through your chief of army staff at the time, General Abdoulaye Fall, met with utter failure.  Our main preoccupation today is how to do away with the coup bandit in The Gambia; bring lasting peace in Cassamance, and with seriousness, start the process of negotiation for united Senegambia.

The deplorable and regrettable thing I cannot understand with all the machinations and attempts is Commandant Malick CISSE?s stupidity of the highest order to physically eliminate me in collaboration with President Yahya JAMMEH.  And without honesty, sincerity, well done work, mutual and total confidence, The Gambia will fall five hundred years behind colonial rule and that the dream of Senegambian unity will remain in the dustbin of African history.

All the attempts to eliminate me resulted in my kidnapping in Guinea-Bissau with the help of late President Joan Bernardo Nino Vierra, his Minister of Defence, Mr. Helden Proenca Tavarez Mendez and the fugitive Chief of Staff of the Bissau-Guinea Navy, General Jose Ameroco Bubu Nachuta currently residing in The Gambia under the protection of President Yahya JAMMEH.These kinds and act of shameful betrayal will not facilitate the smooth running and achievement of our pan-Africanist ideas.

Dear Papa, do not abandon and forget me.  I beg you in the name of truth and bright future for Africa.  Once again, grant me and my political organisation another chance that you are never going to regret.  Help and support us, so we can finally endeavour to do every thing to contribute to your efforts in building the African unity.  But by starting with the unity of Senegambia.Be assured that you will be immortalized and your name will be engraved in gold letters in the memory of Africans, when you succeed in integrating Senegal and The Gambia.

I am in total distress both physically and morally as a result of what the traitor, Malick CISSE did.  To prove my innocence, I am ready to confront Commandant CISSE in your presence and to give proofs. I want to inform you that my life is deteriorating as a result of the torments.  The machinations of my enemies to ruin me have exhausted me energy wise but not to an extent of losing hope.  All my adversaries are throwing obscenities at me; this is simply to discourage me but such discouragements from traitors and cowards, do not exist in the lexicon of my pan-Africanist belief.

Dear Papa, save me from shame and destruction.  Do not abandon me because of Commandant CISSE?s betrayal which is not my fault.  Do not be angry with me for I am the one who is going to immortalize you like Osagefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and Nelson Mandela. I am innocent about all that they say about me.  Do you think that I am stupid or crazy to be happy for suffering all these years?  What alternative has criminal Yahya JAMMEH not offered me to abandon the heroic and liberation struggle I started since thirty years ago with all their attendant sufferings.  Have mercy on me and the poor people of The Gambia.  We are in total desperation but we rely on.

My enemies, especially Commandant CISSE, is priding himself with their aim, strategy and diabolical plan to see me fail and totally destroyed.  I count so much on your understanding and generosity because I want to be proud of your help and to be the basis of your success in building a united Senegambia. Considering my situation after my kidnapping in Guinea-Bissau where several attempts to physically poison and kill me were made, without mentioning the numerous demarches to extradite me illegally to The Gambia in order to be killed by criminal Yahya JAMMEH, my enemies are trying to stop me from meeting you to reveal the secrets and truth about their machinations to abort our pan-Africanist plan and programme of integrating The Gambia and Senegal.

I have adequate solutions for your honourable exit from the Presidential Palace and retirement from the political scene with honour, dignity and satisfaction, by leaving an indelible mark in the history of Africa. Also, this plan for the unification of Gambia and Senegal, will give you the opportunity to remain at the head of the unified Senegambian state for two mandates.  This will enable you to run and consolidate the Senegambian union and in the process, you stand the chance to encourage other African Heads of State to follow your pan-Africanist example.Dear Papa, in the face of those who want to see your failure and disgrace, and those who want to visit evil on me and see my failure, I implore you to ensure our self-defence and lead us to success for the interest of Africa.

Teach all Africans to live the way Africa demands it and as you wish.  I want your faithfulness or the cause of Africa to be my inspiration and strength. Rise up with courage and patriotism to take up your pan-Africanist and historic responsibility, for you are the one and only pan-Africanist leader who see the bright future of Africa.  Africans count so much on you for the final victory of our devalued and divided Africa. Do not think any longer about what happened because of our failure, but rather think about Africa in your generosity.  You are a supportive and die-hard pan-Africanist.  I depend on you for my protection and dignity in innocence and righteousness.

Dear Mr. President and Papa, I have an unshakable confidence in you.  Put me to the test, you, Senegambia and its peoples will not be disappointed.  Be aware that the peoples of Senegambia need me but Senegambia also needs you in building a Senegambian Union and restoring hope to Africa.

Your Excellency, Dear Mr. President and Very Dear Papa remain proud of yourself and have the bravery of a lion, for Africa will sing praises in your honour for all that you do for the total liberation of Africa and its unification despite the accusations against you bth inside Senegal and in other African countries, which are simply meant to divert your attention and efforts from Africans and the unification of the continent. Your ardent desire to see qualitative change in Africa for the unity of Africa is testimony to your refusal and rejection of all that the enemies of Africa want for it. You should be very proud that there is a striking contradiction between what you want for a postive Africa and what the enemies want for a negative Africa.  You, who always declare the truth without fear or ridicule and you, who opt for progress of our continent, make justice possible whereas the stooges of imperialism are against our continent because they are at the service of lies.

Very Dear Papa and Spiritual Leader know that gold and silver are tested by fire.  Man is judged according to their reputation and deeds.  I thank Allah for what you represent for the future of Africa. Let us thank Allah for your enlightened and determinant pan-Africanist role, for gallant Africa does not need hypocrites and stooges of imperalism. For fear of not being disappointed or betrayed by another person like Commandant Cheick Malick CISSE, I have with me the great historical plan for the achievement of the great exciting pan-Africanist dream of a united Senegambia, which I keep jealously.  I prefer to give it to you hand to hand.

The plan allows for a mutually enriching true African dialogue that will bring about a sincere pan-Africanist commitment to the cause of pan-Africanism. The Gambia and Senegal are condemned to unite now or never.I remain faithful to my conviction and commitment.

?THE GUIDING PRINCIPLE OF MY LIFE IS THE FEAR OF SHAME AND HUMILIATION? Your Dearest son,
Koukoie Samba Sanyang (Former Head of State of the Republic of The Gambia and Leader of the African Democratic Congress)
