Kuntaur schools, health centre boosted

Africa » Gambia
Friday, February 05, 2010
A delegation from Helsingore Little School in Denmark, on Tuesday donated learning materials and medical items to Kuntaur Upper and Lower Basic Schools, Nursery School and the health centre, at a ceremony held at Kuntaur Fulla Kunda, in Niani District, CRR south.

The donated items included sporting gears, television set, chalk, exercise books, toys, mattresses and clothes. Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Kanimang Camara called on the students to take their education seriously and urged them to make best use of the donated items. For his part, Sues Rasmussen, the representative of the Danish school, also advised the students to take their education seriously, noting that the importance of education cannot be over-emphasized.  According to him, since the establishment of the link, both schools have learnt a lot from each other.

Kalilu Janbbi, the principal of the school, commended the donors for the support they are rendering to the school since the establishment of the link in 1998. He said the donated materials will go a long way in the development of the school and assured them that the donated materials will be put to good use.
The cluster monitor, Kebba Omar Jarjusey, applauded the donors for complementing government’s efforts in providing the materials to the school and expressed hope that the materials will contribute immensely to the development of the school.

Alhagie Sulayman Jawo, the chairman of the school management committee, spoke at length on the achievement gained in partnering with the Danish friends since 1998.
