Lady testifies in affray case

One Fatou Sanneh Wednesday, August 1st 2012 testified as the second prosecution witness (PW2) in a case involving the state against two persons namely, Ebrima Jammeh and Abubacarr Jammeh, who were charged with affray contrary to the Laws of The Gambia. The case was heard at the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Principal Magistrate Foster.


The particulars of offence stated that on the 13th December 2011 at Tallinding in the Kanifing Municipality, the two accused persons jointly and took part in a fight, thereby committed an offence. They both pleaded not guilty.


In her testimony, Sanneh said she could recall on the 13th December 2011 at Tallinding, when they were sleeping late in the night, she heard a noise on their roof, then she went to her husband Ebrima Jammeh with her son and together they went to out to find out what was wrong but nothing was seen. She said that was the time the second accused took a stone and came out and met with the first accused and hit him on his forehead.


According to PW2, she said, the accused persons engaged in a fight and people came out to separate them. She said Ebrima Jammeh then went to the Tallinding Police Station and when he came back, he told them he met only one officer at the station as the other officers went for night patrol. The case was adjourned to 13th August 2012 for continuation.
