Lamin car crash kills 3

A car crash in Lamin claimed the life of three people and left one seriously injured on Monday morning. Sulayman Manneh, the driver and resident of Brikama Perseverance, Jainaba Gassama of New Yundum and her daughter Fatou (surname unknown) all died on the spot when the vehicle they were travelling in hit a Baobab treewhich is situated near the main highway in Lamin along theBrikama -Serrekunda route. Bakary Sanyang who sustained serious injuries is currently in critical condition at RVTH in Banjul.
An eye witness told Daily Observer that the accident happened at around 4am on Monday when the driver of the Benz S-Class with the Registration number BJL 6637G that was heading towards Serrekunda fromBrikamalost control and hit the Baobab tree.
Similar accident in 2009
It would be
recalled that in 2009, four people, including the driver, were killed and one
person seriously injured when a four passengertaxi with registration number BJL 6455F that was heading
towards Serrekunda strayed off the road and hit the same Baobab tree on a
Saturday morning in Lamin village. It is believed that that particular accident
was due to drunk driving.
The victims were women petty traders from Busumbala, Yundum and Lamin while the only male passenger was a resident of Busumbala.
Some people believe that there is an evil spirit around the place that causes car accidents in the area every year.
