Lawyer O.D Mbye’s judgement deferred

Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Principal Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court Tuesday deferred the judgement in the criminal trial of a private legal practitioner, Lawyer Omar Dodou Mbye alias Mbassou Mbye and his co-accused Sulayman Khan to 10th May 2012.The judgement, which supposed to be delivered yesterday 24 April, 2012, was deferred in chambers as the judgement was said to be incomplete.

It would be recalled that Lawyer O.D Mbye and his co-accused person were jointly charged on three criminal offences, ranging from conspiracy to obtain money by false pretence and issuing of false cheque, all contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.

During the trial, the prosecuting officer, Sergeant Kinteh called several witnesses to testify, while the two accused persons testified on their own without calling any witness. The case is now adjourned to the 10th May, 2012 for the court to deliver judgement.
