« A caring president
Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jam... »

Lucky to have you, Mr President

Africa » Gambia
Thursday, June 04, 2009

Editor,

Please allow me room to sincerely register my heartfelt gratitude to the president of the Republic His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, for the love and care he has for The Gambia and its people, Africa and the world at large.  This is manifested in his active participation in both the national and international scene, both in theory and practice.

Your Excellency, I will be the happiest if my letter of appreciation really reaches you.  You are beyond any undoubted fact a loving father and brother of our great mother land The Gambia with a very good vision for the people;  an icon that represents various aspects of life in The Gambia, ranging from peacefulness and friendliness, people's hope in agriculture, steadfastness and calm etc.  It is as a result of this, Your Excellency, that your developmental programs cover all sectors.

Your Excellency, you are the kind of a leader that is the envy to many, especially those not blessed to have your type and wish they have in their nations.  Nevertheless, they are lucky to have you in the world family especially Africa as a community.  This is evident during my visits to Senegal, Cassamance and Guinea Bissau, where people would always speak to me about your outstanding, leadership qualities and how they wish they have a visionary leader like you.

This alone is more than a lesson for all Gambians to realise and sincerely appreciate the great gift they have by coming together and work for the common interest of all. Gambians should sincerely confess your good ambitions for the interest of all.  It is a high time that we Gambians do away with selfishness and develop love and mercy, hence unity and development.  Gambians should know, Your Excellency, that your call for hard work is to elevate the lives and restore the status and respect of all Gambians.

Your Excellency, May I take this opportunity to thank all Gambians for rallying behind your great leadership as clearly manifested in your tour.  May the good Lord continue to bless and guide us all to honestly give our unflinching support to your government and The Gambia as a whole.

May Almighty God continue to shower down his unending blessings on you.  May He grant you very long and prosperous life and reign to continue to rule your people, Amen.
