Thursday, June 11, 2009
The Principal Magistrate of the Brikama Magistrates Court, on Wednesday 10 June, told two accused person that his hands were tied-up, otherwise he would have sent them to prison for a long period of time.

Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh made this statement after Mamadou Jang Bah and Alfuseny Jallow pleaded guilty to accessory charges in connection with the Bullock murder case. He said the maximum punishment for that section of the law says two years only; thus he could not go beyond that. The magistrates said that if the law had permitted him to go beyond that, the convicts would serve more years in prison.

The two were given the maximum sentence of two years with hard labour. The main suspects in the homicide case, Ajibou Jallow and Ebrima Bah, have been remanded. The magistrate said the duo need legal representation for the murder charge; the court entered a plea of not guilty for the conspiracy charge. According to the facts of the case, on June 4, 2009, Ajibou Jallow and Ebrima Bah, allegedly murdered one Isatou Jallow, on the outskirts of Bullock, in Foni.
