Magnificent Joe optimistic about debut album![]() Saturday, August 29, 2009 One of The Gambia's promising reggae dancehall starS, Magnificent Joe, the 2008 winner of the Gamcel organised Chartbuster Award, has said that his new album is expected to hit the streets soon. He started music at a tender age at his former school (Armitage High School) in the Central River Region. Magnificent Joe rapid rise to stardom in recent years has been felt by all music lovers. In an interview with What's On, Joe disclosed that the upcoming album, entitled 'D Legal Movement", will contain eight tracks. The album was made in The Gambia and Senegal. Joe further disclosed that Gamcel, the national GSM operator, will sponsor the upcoming album. He added that it will feature some hits tunes like "Hum in the name of the lord', the promo single which has been blazing on most radio stations, the state TV as well as MTV Channel. It will also contain a lot of other scintillating hits. "The album is already done and I am now waiting for the sponsors to launch the album. This album will be one of a kind, when it's finally out in the market," he said. In promoting his music internationally, Magnificent Joe, has attended several music festivals both in The Gambia and Senegal. It could be recalled that in 2008, the star was awarded the Upcoming Artist of the Year award at the Gam-Spirit Music Awards under the stewardship of Champion DJ Lamin Cham.
