Man faces common assault charge

One Adama Wurry Sowe, a native of Sanchaba Sulay Jobe was last Monday, 7th May 2012 arraigned before the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Principal Magistrate Foster, charged with one count of the criminal offence, common assault causing actual bodily harm contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.

The particulars of offence revealed that the 26th of February 2012 at Sanchaba Sulay Jobe in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused unlawfully assaulted one Michael Jatta by hitting him with a broken bottle, thereby causing him injury. When the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor Corporal 3533 Jarju stood for the IGP. However the accused was granted bail in the sum of D22, 000 with two Gambian sureties, who should deposit their ID cards in the next adjourned date. The case was adjourned to 17th May 2012 for hearing.
