Tuesday, March 17, 2009
One Lamin Darboe, was on Tuesday arraigned before Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of the Kanifing Magistrates Court, charged with assault and being armed in public.

According to the particulars of the offence, Lamin Darboe, on the 4th of March 2009, at Kanifing South, unlawfully assaulted one Ousman Darboe, and hit him with a cutlass and injured him on his right hand. It was also said that Lamin Darboe was found with a cutlass and an iron bar without legal authority. He pleaded guilty to all the counts.

According to the police prosecutor, 319 Jobe, the accused had an argument with Ousman Darboe, who was said to be his younger brother, and that resulted to a fight. The prosecutor added that the accused later rushed to collect a cutlass and a sharp iron bar and hit his brother with the cutlass on his right hand leading to the brother being injured. When the police were called and came to the scene, they found out that the accused was nowhere.

The prosecutor further told the court that the accused went to Pipeline and met two Uncle Sam security officers, Sunkarr Manneh and Musa Jallow, and begged to spent the night with them. He narrated that the two guards did not agree and he threatened to kill one of them. The two guards then conducted an inspection of his bag and found the cutlass and the sharp iron. He added that they then apprehended him and took him to the police.
