Man jailed for obtaining money by false pretence

One Muhammeh Ceesay was on Monday convicted and sentenced to pay a fine of D2, 920 in default to serve six weeks imprisonment, by Magistrate Nkea of the Brikama Magistrates Court.

The convict was charged with obtaining money by false pretence and the particulars of the offence stated that the convict, in the month of May 2010 in Farato village, obtained the sum of D1, 420 from one Samba Bah on the pretext that his (the convict) uncle Lawyer Ousainou Darboe will offer him a job. He was convicted accordingly and sentenced to pay a fine of D1, 500 in default to serve six weeks imprisonment and to pay the said D1, 420 to the complainant in 20 days.
