Mansally resurfaces, Ex Rev signs with RSLFriday, June 22, 2012 Gambian international and former New England Revolution defender/forward Abdoulie “Kenny” Mansally has signed with the Real Salt Lake following a three week trial with the club. “It feels great to have the opportunity to play with one of the best teams in MLS,” said Mansally, whose first day on trial with RSL came on the heels of the team's May 29 loss in the Open Cup. “This organization has been doing really well, for a long time, now they are first in the West. It will be hard to just jump in, but I’m going to work hard, and I’m very happy to be here.” Mansally’s
89 regular-season appearances for the Revolution, included 47 starts, seven
goals and five assists during the 2007-12 seasons, after the Gambian
international signed with New England as a developmental youth international on
Sept. 6, 2007, after the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Canada. Mansally’s MLS experience has seen him play primarily as a forward, but normally lines up at left back when representing the Gambian National Team. He made his debut for the country’s full senior national team in June 2008, and since has earned 10 caps. Mansally entered RSL’s radar screen early this month, the Utah side giving the young, dynamic, left-footed player with invaluable experience at both the youth and senior international levels - despite his 23 years of age - a three-week trial that included an appearance in MLS Reserve League play, starting last Tuesday against the Chicago Fire Reserves, and contributing to the reserves’ 2-1 win, its first of the season.
