Mariam & Muhammed Jammeh Fans' Club launched![]() Monday, August 17, 2009 The Mariam and Muhammed Jammeh Fans Club was, on Sunday, launched at a colourful ceremony at Tabokoto.The club which has a membership of nearly 200 youths is headed by Yama Njie, a diehard APRC millitant in the Kanifing Municipality. Speaking at the ceremony, Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay, the former speaker of the National Assembly, called on the youths to be steadfast and committed to the development of the nation. She reiterated the fact that the youths have a very important role to play in the development of any nation. She also cautioned the youths to be vigilant and report anybody or group that tries to lure them into illegal migration to the nearest police station. Madam Jahumpa-Ceesay, finally urged the youths to register in preparation for the 2011 presidential and National Assembly elections, pointing out that, those who were 4 (four) years old during the 1994, 22nd July, takeover, are now eligible to possess voter's cards. She advised the fans club to stand firm in their strive to contribute to the welfare of the nation and also in their loyalty to the APRC. For her part, Yama Njie, youth organiser and mobiliser for the APRC, said that she has been an APRC supporter since 1994 and has nearly 200 youths behind her in Tabokoto. She added that these youths always participatie actively in the service of the nation, partaking in set setals, farming at the president's farms in Kanilai, and a host of other activities. She added that because of their love for the head of state and his APRC party, they decided to name the fans club after his children. She assured the head of state that her fans club will remain committed to the APRC party. Njie further commended NAWEC's managing director, Momodou Jallow, and his deputy, Sira Wally Ndow, for sponsoring her fans club by providing transportation, food, and other items. She also thanked the members of the Cabinet, and many others who helped to make the fans club a reality. She also expressed unreserved thanks to President Sheikh Professor Dr Alhaji Yahya Jammeh for making her a role model in society by giving her an award, which she said she will never forget in her life. Fatoumata Sallah Njie, senior data entry supervisor at the Social Security and Housing Finance Cooperation (SSHFC), who represented her managing director, Tumbul Danso, also delivered a statement thanking the fans club for always responding to their call to do set-setals. She also gave the fans club D5,000 in the name of SSHFC. Madam Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay gave D2,000 to the fans club as a token of appreciation for their solidary and loyalty to the APRC party.
