Marina International School, last Saturday celebrated its 50 years anniversary (Golden jubilee) at the school grounds, Bakau New Town.

The celebration also marked the school's annual fete 2009. Speaking at the ceremony, Sirra Wally Ndow-Njai, chairperson Board of Governors, Marina International School, said the celebration creates an opportunity for the Marina family, not only to reflect on their accomplishments, but also to pave the way forward in  meeting the challenges that might be faced by the school in future. She appealed to every member of the school to renew their commitments so as to enhance students' achievements and improve the capacity  of the teachers.

As chairperson Board of Governors, Njai vowed to remain dedicated and to implement mechanisms that would guarantee access to quality education in the school. Musa Sanneh, the acting headteacher of the school remarked that the school's success depends entirely on hardwork and commitment. He acknowledged the relevant roles played by the Parent Teacher Association of the school, describing it as exceptional.

As part of the celebration, Trust Bank Ltd presented a cheque for D25,000 to the school. At the end of the ceremony, the golden jubilee plate was jointly  unveiled by Sirra Wally Ndow-Njai and Dodou Nyang of Trust Bank respectively.
