Maslaa-Bi bounces back in music

Africa » Gambia
Friday, April 27, 2012

After almost 10 years of silence, Maslaa-Bi, a one-time famous Gambian rap group is making a rebound in the music industry, following the setting up of what they call “Bu Nui Merro Production”, if reports reaching What’s On are anything to go by.

The group that is based in the United Kingdom is currently working on its third album. “We have been studying various aspects of music and we are now qualified professionals in what we do that has now earned us a very good quality studio where we are recording our own album called the "Bu Nui Merro Studio," the group’s manager, Musa Jobe disclosed to What’s On.

Bu nuiMerro Production is looking forward to work with all artistes, especially the upcoming ones. The first production from Bu nuiMerro Production,Jobe added, “is a song entitled R.I.P which is dedicated to our grandmother and artist, who left us after our absence in the music scene.” Jobe said the single track song with a video clip will be released tomorrow and it will feature a Gambian female artiste, Amie Cherrie.

“The single track song will be available online for download and will be featured in most TV and radio stations in Dakar given the fact that we are now working with some professionals in both The Gambia and Senegal as part of our efforts to have a wider market. The release of the first track song will be followed by a salsa mbalax track song entitled“Sass sal.” This will be released next month before our show with Papa NdiayeThioupet in Glasgow,” he disclosed.

Part of their line of activities as a show of a full rebound in the music business, Jobe said will include a tour of Europe this summer, which will be culminated by a visit to the Senegambia for the promotion and the release of the third album. “We would like to thank all our fans for the long wait and we are back to do it much better,” he concluded.
