Mayor Colley urges Halifa to apologiseThursday, September 13, 2012 “If Halifa has any personal feelings that what the Daily Observer published is an insult to him, let him solve that with them and apologise to APRC for saying that Observer is the mouthpiece of APRC,” said Yankuba Colley, mayor of the Kanifing Municipality who doubles as the APRC national mobiliser. Mayor Colley was reacting to a comment by Halifa Sallah contained in the Forayaa newspaper publication of Tuesday September 11th, 2012, in reaction to Daily Observer’s Monday publication in which the minister for Regional Administration, Lands and Traditional Rulers, Lamin Waa Juwara described Halifa Sallah as the “biggest fool”, which didn't go down well with the latter. Colley made
it clear that Daily Observer is no mouthpiece of the APRC and said Halifa
Sallah should apologise to APRC otherwise they will equally take action against
him. “He is
accusing us and we want his proof to that effect. This is the problem with him
[Halifa] he doesn’t accept criticism. He never accepts to be criticised because
he feels that he is “Mr. Perfect”. So he doesn't want anybody to criticise him.
Even a little criticism about him, he would write a book. How will he be like
if he is given the opportunity to lead this country?” the APRC national
mobiliser queried. He insisted
that Halifa most apologise to APRC and know that it is a respectable party that
should be respected the way they respect his party which is the PDOIS. He added: “They cannot have their agenda and want to throw it on us just like that. He should apologise to the party’s leadership and know thatDaily Observer is no mouthpiece of the APRC. We have our party organs that are responsible for anything that we want to talk about of which we can say openly. Halifa has really disappointed me. If he wants to criticise APRC, it is fine, but let him not use an independent media outlet, to attach it to us [APRC]. I repeat, Daily Observer is not and has never been the mouthpiece of APRC and I want him [Halifa] to understand that from today. As a political leader, I think he should check on his comments when talking of things like this.” Author: Musa Ndow | Media Actions See Also |
