MDFT members trained on financial management in CRRTuesday, July 07, 2009 Over seventy members of the Multi-disciplinary Facilitation Team (MDFT) recently concluded a three-day training on procurement and financial management at Wassu and Janjangbureh in the Central River Region North. The training was organised by the Community Driven Development Project (CDDP). Addressing participants at Wassu, Alieu Mbowe the community development officer of CRR north said the purpose of the training was to equip the participants with the knowledge and skills on The Gambia Public Procurement Act 2001 and financial management. He expressed hope that the participants will in turn train the village and ward development committees in all the CDDP intervention areas. The CDDP financial controller in CRR North, Lamin Njie described the training as timely, noting that the first trench of disbursement has been made to farmers, and training them on proper management of the funds will improve the implementation of their sub-projects. He informed them that CDDP is very particular about the procurement and whoever is dealing with public funds must abide by the Gambia Public Procurement Authority Act 2001 procedures. The community development facilitator Alhagie Jatta, stressed the need for them to go by the Gambia Public Procurement Act. He urged them to work as a team in order to achieve their objective.
