MDFT trained on team building in CRR

Africa » Gambia
Thursday, February 19, 2009
Members of Multi-Disciplinary Facilitation Team (MDFT) in Central River Region South recently concluded a three-day training on team building.

The training was organised by Community Drive Development Project (CDDP) in collaboration with the Department of Community Development. Speaking at the ceremony, Alhajie Ganyie Touray, the regional governor  said the importance of the training cannot be over emphasised as participants were eqipped with skills, knowledge and techniques on team building. He stated that the team building should not be limited to encouraging people to work together only, but should also include how each team member actually thinks and behaves in accomplishing the team task or activity.

Governor Touray called on participants to put into practice the skills gained during the three-day training. He also commended the CDDP and members of the MDFT for their hard work and dedication. The chief executive officer of the Janjanbureh Area Council, Yusupha Manneh, said the purpose of the training was for participants to work collectively in assisting the communities to design projects that will ease their hardship. He urged them to take up the challenges that lie ahead, as the successful implementation of projects, lies in their hands.

The Community Development officer, Central River Region South, Lamin Badjie pointed out that capacity building is a cornerstone of the CDDP, noting that if capacities are built, it will lead to successful implementation of projects and programmes. According to him, team building is paramount in the implementation of the CDDP for the fact that MDFT play a vital role at grassroot level.
