Mechanic docked for stealing 2 vehicles

One Musa Touray, an auto mechanic was Wednesday, August 1, 2012 arraigned before the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, presided over Principal Magistrate Foster, charged with stealing two vehicles, contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.


The particulars of the offence stated that on the 18th July, 2010 at Brufut, Kombo North District of the West Coast Region, the accused stole two vehicles (vans) marked BJL 2470 A and BJL 9034 F in the compound of one Angel Cueba, a Spanish national, thereby committed an offence.


When the matter was read to the accused person, he pleaded not guilty. The presiding magistrate asked the accused to take his plea and the accused told the court that the vehicles were given to him to work on them, saying he did not steal them. The prosecution led by Sgt. 1883 Bojang applied for an adjournment in order to call his witness to testify in court.


However, the accused was granted bail in the sum of D80, 000 with two Gambian sureties and the case was adjourned to 16th August 2012 for trial.
