Minor Cabinet changes

The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh in exercise of the powers vested in him, has relieved Sirra Wally Ndow-Njai, of her position as the minister of Energy. The president also effected other cabinet changes according to a release from the Office of the President.

Below is the full text of the release:
His Excellency the President of the Republic of The Gambia, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh in exercise of the powers vested in him under Section 71 (4) B of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, has relieved Mrs Sirra Wally Ndow-Njai of her Cabinet appointment with effect from Monday 7th June 2010.

His Excellency the president in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under Sections 71(1) and 71(3) of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, has also reassigned Mr Ousman Jammeh, minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad as minister of Energy with effect from Monday, 7th June 2010.

In the same vein, Dr. Mamadou Tangara, minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology has been reassigned as minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad with effect from Monday 7th June, 2010. The portfolio of Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology has been brought under the Office of The President for the time being.
