Reports reaching the Daily Observer have indicated that Brigadier General Serign Modou Njie, the chief of Army Staff has been appointed as the new chief of the Republican National Guards and at the same time the General Officer Commanding State Guards Battalion with effect from Friday 21 August 2010.

In the same vein, Brigadier General Lamin Bojang, who was the chief of the Republican National Guards and the General Officer Commanding State Guards Battalion has now been appointed as the new chief of Army Staff. Brig.Gen.Njie has earlier served as Commander of State Guards Battalion for years.
