Miranda Nehme Group offers scholarship

Africa » Gambia
Friday, October 16, 2009
In its effort to complement government's effort in education, the Miranda Nehme Group in The Gambia, on Monday offered another scholarship to one Alagi Jallow, a grade 10 student at Armitage Senior Secondary School in Janjanbureh, Central River Region.

The presentation ceremony was held at the Miranda Nehme Group's office around the  Fajara War Cemetry. Speaking at the ceremony, Miranda Nehme, said her group attaches great importance to education, adding the awarding of a scholarship package is a testimony to that effect. She advised the beneficiary to make best use of the package, pointing out that her group will continue to sponsor him as long as he continues to perform well in school.

In response, the beneficiary, Alagi Jallow, thanked the group and promised to meet their expectation. "I am grateful to everybody who contributed towards my education." Nehme said most of the funds that the group use to sponsor students are contributions from family members and friends. Miranda Group is an international education consultant and placement services group operating in Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo and The Gambia. Since its establishment in the country two months ago, the group has sponsored a good number of students both at national and international level.
