MK INTERNATIONAL PRESENTS DESIGNS OF 3 MODERN PROJECTSTuesday, May 05, 2009 As part of his continued consultation with the Gambian leader, the founder and president of the South Korean based MK International, Dr Hae Jung Jung, yesterday made a detailed power point presentation on the design of three modern infrastructural projects in the presence of the Gambian leader, Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, at State House in Banjul. The projects, estimated at over 400 million dollars, include The Gambia International Centre (GIC), Banjul Commercial Strip (BCS) and The Gambia Cultural Centre (GCC). Described by the MK International boss as landmark infrastructural development, these projects, upon approval, will be implemented within the Greater Banjul Area. According to Dr Hae, The Gambia International Centre will encompass a conventional centre that can host at least 2000 people during major international events such as the African Union summit. With up to 63 presidential suites, a standard hotel with over 200 rooms, the center will also accomodate golf courses, bungalow, a club house, amongst others. The Gambia Cultural Centre, he explained, would accomodate monuments, a concert hall, cultural artworks, a modern sports complex and a theatre, amongst others. The Banjul Commercial Strip, according to Dr Hae, will include a shopping mall, international financial centre, and residential facilities, amongst a host of facilities characteristic of a modern commercial centre. These three different projects, the MK International boss indicated, are designed to modern standard. He said that such projects would be second to none not only in the ECOWAS sub-region, but the continent as a whole. It can be recalled that the MK International boss, at the invitation of the Gambian leader, last year, to explore business opportunities in the country, has since been in consultation with the president with a view to come to conclusion with the aforementioned proposed projects. A renowned investment firm, MK International has been in operation since 1981 and it engages in diverse areas of investments such as industrial engineering for small and medium scale projects, manufacturing activities, international trading on general import and export. The investment firm is operating in 38 countries the world over, 13 of which are in Africa. Present at yesterday's presentation were secretaries of state, the secretary general and head of Civil Service, Tenengba Jaiteh, as well as officials of MK International. Author: by Hatab Fadera |
