Mo Hawk storms Åland Islands

Africa » Gambia
Friday, July 31, 2009
Report reaching What's On has indicated that The Gambian hip-hop star, Mo Hawk, has made a name for himself, on the Finish autonomous island of Åland, after offering them a brilliant performance recently.

The show was held at a popular place called Pub Bastun and according to one of the biggest newspapers on the island, the pub was full to capacity. In an interview with What's On, the organiser of the event, Alieu Khan, described Mo Hawk's performance as a great success.

"Hip hop and reggae are not popular things on my island. I was not expecting lot of people at the show but interestingly there was a large turn out," said Alieu, a former What's On columnist.

A 17-year-old boy who was at the program was quoted saying: "I was blown away by Mo Hawk's performance. Rap is not my music but to be honest I like his style of rap and would love to see his performance again." Speaking to What's On, Mo Hawk thanked Mr Khan, the organiser of the event for offering him the opportunity to exhibit his talent to the people of Åland. "I was so happy with the welcome and support I received. Few days before I arrived here, I was interviewed by one of the biggest newspapers, and also the national radio. The media coverage I received helped in arousing great interest and anticipation among island's music lovers," he said.

Since he started his solo career, Mo Hawk has been generating lot of attention both home and abroad. His debut solo album is expected in the market soon. If you want to watch a bit of his Åland show you can go to youtube and put in Mo Hawk live on Åland 2009 or
