Cheikh Sidil Moukhtar Mbacke, the Khalifa general of the Mourid sect in Touba, Senegal has written to the Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, acknowledging receipt of his kind gesture during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The message reads:

I have the honour to extend heartfelt greetings to Your Excellency, and acknowledge receipt of Your Excellency’s kind gesture on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. I would like to thank you on behalf of the entire Mourides.

This kind gesture attests once again in Your Excellency’s nationals that exist between Senegal and The Gambia. I would also like to seize this opportunity to renew the relations that existed between Your Excellency, my predecessors, and the Mourides community. I look forward to further strengthening this relation by the grace of Allah.

Finally, praying for Your Excellency, first family and the people of The Gambia’s peace, good health, success and prosperity. Please accept Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration and that of my highest consideration and that of the Mourides community.
