Mr President, God is by our side

Thursday, June 04, 2009

Editor,

Reading on your website the story captioned: "Westfield-Banjul lighting project inaugurated", I am out of words or phrases to use to thank all the people of The Gambia, friends of The Gambia and all well wishers of our dear mother land.

My eyes are filled with tears and my heart is filled with joy. My memory takes me far back as the 22nd July, 1994. I feel like crying when my memory recalls this day when our saviours sacrificed their lives in broad day light with God's guidance to save our beloved country.

Our thanking the government and recognizing  its  efforts are viewed by enemies of The Gambia, I call them, as we are griots of Jammeh or looking for recognition or campaigning for positions. But if that is what will bear us the titles, why not even if it will cause our deaths? But it is always said that give a tap on someone's back who deserves it. This encourages the person to do more. This is what we are doing.

My president, my people, friends of The Gambia and all well wishers, all peace-loving and well-wishers of our mother land abroad are following the developments going on, which even the blind can feel. I am out of words but to continue to pray for everyone back home to continue contributing to the development of the country. I know it is impossible to get 100% support for our leadership but a credit mark is already scored and that is all what everyone looks for.

May the Almighty God continue to guide and protect all our hard working people who are having sleepless nights in helping our president achieve his dreams for the betterment of even children not yet born.

Let's join hands and support our leader. Most people would agree with me that if one can change presidents, there are countries ready to even fight against us and steal our leader. My president, I have no word to use to show how much you mean to most of us away. Few of us are writing but thousands in silence love you more than anyone else. God will continue to protect you and will continue to deny those who hate to see Gambia progress under your leadership their bad wishes. Keep it moving and God is always by your side every second.
