MRC nurse testifies in NIA theft case

Abdou Colley, a nurse at the Medical research Council on Wednesday testifies as a prosecution witness in the ongoing 1.6 million theft case involving two NIA officers Demba Sowe and Baboucarr Jallow, charged with abuse of office and conspiracy before Acting Principal Magistrate Kumba Sillah Camara of the the Bundung Magistrate Court.

In his evidence in chief, Abdou Colley, a resident of Bundung Six Junction, told the court that he was arrested on Thursday 28 February 2008 by the NIA officers at his work place at 12:00PM.  He went on to explained to the court that the NIA officers did ask him (Colley) during the time of his arrest , if he had known Christopher Badjie. I then told the officers yes I know Christopher Badjie."

According to him, he was then asked about a safe that Christopher had given  him before being accompany by the NIA officers to go and collect the safe at his resident in Bundung.  He added that he was asked  what was inside the safe but I responded to the officers that I don't know what is inside the safe. The witness testifies that he was then taken to the NIA headquarters before been release between 3:30 to 4:00pm.

According to him, he was given a key by the second accused Jallow to hand it over to Faburama Badjie adding that Jallow told him to tell Faburama to go and sleep at Christopher's compound in Bijilo. He told the court that he was unable to handover the key on that very day but on the following day which was Friday he handed over the key to Faburama at around 9 o'clock  am when Faburama met him at his compound in Bundung.

According to him, Mr Jallow told him at the time of his release at the NIA headquarter that he should report back to the office on the following day with Faburama. He added that on that Friday morning  he and Faburama reported to the NIA headquarters  and on their arrival at the main gate of the NIA Headquaters they were told to leave their belongings including mobile phones behind before we proceed inside the NIA headquarters .

According to him, at the headquarter they went straight to Mr Jallow office were he (Colley) introduce Faburama Badjie to Baboucarr Jallow.  "While at Jallow's office we greeted each other before we went back to the waiting room."
