A high powered delegation from the Omega Agriculture and Infrastructures Company Limited, an Indian investment firm based in Dakar, Senegal, last Friday met top government officials on behalf of President Jammeh.

Their business visit was meant to present the master plan of a multi million dollar model agric plant investment in The Gambia. Speaking to reporters shortly after their audience with The Gambian authorities, Sheehari Rabade, director of Operations of the company, revealed that they hope to kick-start the project in the country very soon. He then noted that the composition of his delegation included the entire management of the company.
Asked about the project, he had this to say: "We intend to start agricultural college, farmers' training centre, demonstration plots, and digging of boreholes, amongst others.

The training centre will also serve as an avenue to encourage young people to venture into agriculture for the development of the sector, and at large, extend the economy of The Gambia." Rabade expressed their readiness for such a noble investment in the country, saying they want the agric plant to be under the agricultural policy of The Gambia. Commending The Gambia government for its keen interest in the project, the Omega operation director told reporters that Gambian authorities spared no efforts to make their business trip a success.
