Mustapha jarju on Gambia's chances

Africa » Gambia
Friday, September 03, 2010

Mustapha Jarju, commonly known as Toubabo, has bemoaned the withdrawal of Mauritania in the AFCON qualifiers by saying "it has made our task even harder because we now have to win all our home games.

Speaking to Gambia Sports Online, the RAEC Mons Bergen forward said they didn't come into the game with the best possible preparations with the lack of test games but nonetheless everyone is ready for victory on Saturday. "We came into this game at the back of only one game against Mexico when the coach didn't even have all his players at his disposal. And that always makes things difficult for the coach and the players. But nonetheless, I hope all the players are ready for victory (against Namibia) on Saturday.

"Mauritania's withdrawal has made our task even harder because we now have to win all our home games in order to qualify for the 2012 Nations Cup because if it is four games we can understand but three teams is difficult" Toubabo told Gambia Sports.
