Mystic MC waxing stronger in Denmark

Africa » Gambia
Friday, May 07, 2010
Mystic MC is one of the most hottest reggae dancehall stars in Denmark. As a reggae dancehall music artiste, writer, composer-cum arranger, the star, whose real name is Mustapha  Coker, was born in Banjul in the late 70s.

According to Gambian Talents, in 1999 he went solo from his former band called "Band Black Nature" to release the album 'WARNING' two years later. This rap group, who are credited as the trailblazers of the Gambia's rap forces, produced their album with the assistance of Mystic and Søren for 47 productions in Denmark.

In 2003, the star came to his native Gambia with King Ralph, a renowned disc jockey and one of Germany's most versatile reggae artistes, Gentleman, for a tour that was described by many music enthusiasts as a great success. With his Universal Sound, a foundation sound system is based in Denmark, positive vibes and real dancehall consciousness is their main priority with selectors like Benjamin and Boomboy.

Back in the days, he started it all with his homeboy Zaki, not to mention Kristoffer Sjelberg, at Vesterbrogade in Denmark. In February 2005, he was on a five-day tour in Scandinavia, with Universal Sound and the Jamaican reggae artiste Eek A Mouse.
