NAPSA's assessment tour continues

The National Patriotic Student's Association (NAPSA), on Wednesday continued its assessment tour of schools in the Kanifing municipality in the first week of the academic year. Abdou Kabrr Daffeh, the deputy Public Relation officer of NAPSA, said they came up with the initiative simply because they are the student leaders and are responsible for managing the affairs of the students of this country. Cecil Coker, the pricipal of New Life Upper Basic School, said the student's turn out this year is good as there is 15 percent improvement. Prosper Pipim, the principal of Ebenezer Junior and Senior Secondary Schools in New Jeshwang, said they had resumed school two weeks before other schools but that within that period, 90 percent of the students reported to school and since then, classess are in progress. "We got all the necessary materials for both students and teachers" he said. Abiala Samsung, principal, Unity Comprehensive Senior School in Old Jeshwang, confirmed that all materials required for the school academic year are in place for the smooth runing of classes. He called on parents to contribute in helping them to nurture despline in the children noting that despline is required in them to able them to achieve their goals. At Chalers Fowlis Senior Secondary School in Kanifing, Elizebeth Beatz, the principal of the school, said the turnout is high as there is an eighteen percent increament. Haddy Jammeh, the principal of Aji Sukai Ndateh Senior School in Bakau; and Jimoh Musibiu, the principal of Core Comprehensive Senior School in Kanifing, confirmed the positive turnout in their various schools. In a brief interview with Momodou Salieu Sowe, the chairperson of NAPSA said they came up with this initiative for the simple reason that Gambian students have made it a tradition that the first week of school is not always busy days. He said "this is why the executive members of NAPSA decided that we need to give a stop to this, and the only way is to go out and talk to the students," he asserted. Author: by Omar Wally
