Accordingly, the election of a new speaker will be done as part of the second meeting of the National Assembly of the Republic of The Gambia in the 2009 legislative year, which is scheduled for Wednesday, 17th June, 2009 at 5pm.

The release indicated that the session will be presided over by the Honourable Lord Chief Justice of The Gambia, and it added that the meeting shall also witness the swearing-in of the newly nominated member of the National Assembly, Mrs Elizabeth Renner.

The news release further indicated that the Assembly shall in subsequent meetings consider the ratification of loan agreements to be presented by the honourable minister of Finance and Economic Affairs.
