Wednesday, December 30, 2009
The regional disaster management coordinator for North Bank Region, Poulo O N Joof, has commended the World Food Programme (WFP), for their continuous support to the  disaster victims in the form of food aid.

He made this remarks in an interview with the Daily Observer’s correspondent in Kerewan. He expressed appreciation of the high turnout of people during the recent food distribution in the various distribution points in Kerewan, Farafenni and Essau in North Bank Region.

Joof also commended the efforts of the Regional Disaster Management Committee and food management of various sites for their untiring efforts in making the programme a success while  applauding World Food Programme for complementing government’s efforts through National Disaster Management Agency in the mobilization of resources to make food easily accessible to the displaced families and by extension to contribute in the availability of food in the households.

Speaking on behalf of the benefactors, Njobou Sarr of Pakau Njogu in Upper Nuimi, thanked World Food Programme for coming to their aid. She further assured them that they will do their utmost best to reduce the occurrence of man made disasters and urged other organizations to emulate WFP.
