One Francis Uzoka was on Monday, arraigned before Principal Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay of the Kanifing Magistrates Court, charged with negligent driving resulting in the death of a person, refusal to stop in the case of an accident, and unlicensed driving.

According to the particulars of the offence, Francis Uzoka, on the 5th of April 2009, along Kairaba Avenue, opposite St Therese's Lower Basic School, drove a motor vehicle with the registration number Bjl 7996E (a Volkswagon van) in a negligent manner, thereby causing the death of one Minkailu Tunde Cole. He was also said to have knocked down a pedestrian.

The accused was given the opportunity to obtain the services of a lawyer. He was then granted bail in the sum of D300,000 with two Gambian sureties.  The trial is adjourned to 5 May 2009.
