The maiden edition of the football competition among the women national teams of the West African sub region, which was earlier slated for the month of August, had to be suspended by the organizers due to lack of fund. debutants Gambia are among seven other African countries that will participate in the two-week event in the west African country who are also gearing up for hosting of the FIFA Under 17 World Cup finals staring on October 24. Chairman of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) women football committee, Princess Bola Jegede, told The Guardian in Abuja that WAFU had written to the NFF conveying the new date for the championship, adding that the National women team, the Super Falcons, will soon start training for the championship. The Gambia Football Association has to decamp Coach Buba Jallow-led female national team, who were training at the Independence Stadium in July, following the suspension of the WAFU championship.
