New deputy governor for CRR

Africa » Gambia
Thursday, March 04, 2010
Momodou Ida Bah has been appointed as the new deputy governor of the Central River Region (CRR). Speaking to this reporter yesterday at his office in Janjangbureh, Bah said his appointment took effect from 10 February 2010.

Born on 1 January 1953 in Pakau Njogu Village in Upper Nuimi District, North Bank Region, Bah attended Albreda Primary School from 1963-1969 and then proceeded to the Gambia High School where he obtained his O’level Certificate in 1974. He joined the teaching field as unqualified teacher for two years, before going to the then Yundum College from 1980-1983, where he obtained his teacher’s certificate. He then taught for six years and decided to venture into politics; contesting for the Upper Nuimi seat under the GPP ticket in the First Republic.

In 1987, he picked up another job as the development officer at Kuntaur Area Council until 1992 when he went for further studies in Lusaka, Zambia where he obtained a diploma in Project Planning and Implementation. In 1994 he became a farmer and a politician until his recent appointment.

Bah expressed delight at the appointment and commended President Jammeh for the trust and confidence bestowed on him. He further promised to live up to expectation and thanked the governor of CRR, Alhaji Ganyie Touray and the people of CRR for their cooperation and support.
