africa » gambia
Wednesday, December 24, 2008
Following his victory in the just concluded 18th December Nianija polls, Yaya Whan, the APRC sponsored candidate who won the seat, has called on the people of Nianija to unite and rally behind Professor Alhaji Yahya Jammeh's administration.

Mr Whan who won massively against his opponent of the NRP party, commended the people of Nianija for voting massively for him.  He thanked all those who have participated during the campaign and the election day for the success and assured them that, he will leave no stone unturned in  bring development to the constituency.

Mr Whan made these remarks on Monday during an interview with our Janjangbureh correspondent shortly after winning the elections.  He stated out that the victory of the APRC has been characterised by the track record of developments over the years as well as the peace and prosperity in the country.

He called on the people of Nianija to put their difference behind and come together and work as a family for the development of the constituency as according to him, nothing can work without unity and cooperation.

It could be recalled that Hon. Whan overwhemingly  won the seat against his NRP opponent by 1507 to 974.
