New PIU guard room inaugurated in Kerr BiranTuesday, August 17, 2010 A new gaurd room for the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) was recently inaugurated at a ceremony held
in Kerr Biran village in Illiasa District of the North Bank Region (NBR).
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Alhaji Abu Njie, the deputy governor of NBR, said that the construction of a guard room for the PIU by the people of the region is a show of solidarity to the good work the PIU has been providing for the area. He therefore assured the community of goverment’s resolve in the maintenance of peace and stability. Kebba Bojang, the police commissioner for North Bank Region, thanked the people of Kerr Biran and its cluster villages for their immense support to the security forces. According to him, the concept of community policing aims at building stronger ties with the public. He therefore solicits their support towards the promotion of peace, stability and mutual understanding for peaceful existence.Speaking on behalf of the community, Omar Secka, the alkalo, said that the presence of the Police Intervention Unit in the area will contribute immensely to the protection of life and property.
