Wednesday, February 10, 2010
The swearing-in and flag-raising ceremony for the newly appointed Chief Edrisa A.S Mboge of Niamina Dankunku in the Central River Region (CRR) south was held Saturday.

The oath was administered by the Regional Governor, Alhaji Ganyie Touray. Speaking at the occasion, Alhaji Saikou Sanyang, the permanent secretary Ministry of Local Government and Lands advised the newly appointed chief to serve his people effectively and efficiently, without fear or favour or ill will.

The paramount chief of The Gambia, Alhaji Demba Sanyang urged the people of Niamina Dankunku to maintain their unity and cooperation and rally behind Edirisa Mboge for the smooth running of the district. The APRC national mobiliser, Mayor Yankuba Colley, called on the chief to strengthen his loyalty to President Jammeh and the APRC. He also urged the people of the district to remain steadfast and rally behind the president and the ruling party. He further implored them to let national interest take precedence over personal interest. For his part, Alhaji Ganyie Touray, the regional governor, said that the new chief has big challenges ahead of him. He urged him to take up the challenges bravely noting that leadership is not easy. He further urged him to maintain the peace and stability existing in the district.
