Niani Gainaco Association holds AGM

africa » gambia
Monday, January 12, 2009
The Gainaco Association in Niani over the weekend, held their annual general meeting at Wassu village in Niani District, entral River Region North.
The agenda of the meeting was to look for ways and means of tackling cattle rushing, engage in fund raising activities in order to buy vaccines for their animals and how to support the veterinary officer in the area in terms of fuel.

The chief of the Niani District, Pierre Bah, spoke at length on the importance of the meeting. He noted that this will go a long way in improving the health status of their animals in the area as government alone cannot do all.  He lauded the association's laudable initiative to raise funds in order to buy vaccines and financially support the veterinary officer in the area with fuel for his routine visa.

He advised Alkalolu to be conscious in the way and manner they issue documents to cattle dealers.  He urged his community to ensure community policing and to report any illegal activity to the nearest police station. The president of the association, Bitchy Jawo, called on the people to  double their efforts towards the development of the district.
