Nollywood actress set to shoot movie in Gambia

Friday, August 17, 2012

A leading Nollywood actress last week arrived in the country, for the actual start of her much anticipated movie she intends to shoot in the country. Rita Tony-Edochie, who is in the country for the fourth time, believes this upcoming movie project will make a name in the movie world. The Enugu-based actress, who has been featured in a number internationally-acclaimed movies, further explained that this upcoming international movie will be 85% Gambian dominated.

Edochie explained that the story of the move is about a Gambian that left the country at the age of seven and returned home at the age of 50, during which a lot of transformation occurred. “The man in the story was later assisted by the Gambian leader to return home. The upcoming project will be 85% Gambian dominated as I want to leave a legacy in The Gambia. There is tragedy, comedy as well as a lot of scenes in it. In essence, it’s an emotional movie,” she added.

Rita also promised that the movie, which will be shot in different locations in the country, will be another thriller in the movie world. “The village aspect of the movie will be shot in Kanilai and other different locations in the country as well as in UK and US, where the man once resided,” she revealed.
