Northampton Trustee Fund donates to Penyem villageTuesday, February 16, 2010 Northampton Trustee Fund, a charitable organisation based in UK Saturday donated some sporting materials to the children of Penyem vallage. Speaking at the occasion, Anne Butler, the founding father of the organisation explained that in April 2004 he and a certain Andrew, both ot them teachers in Northampton, came on holiday to The Gambia. During their stay, he said, they went on a day’s trip with a local tourist guide called ‘Ten’. According to him, Ten spoke passionately about his native village, Penyem. There, he said was how they got to know the village and promised that they will provide the village football team with sporting materials. He further thanked the villagers and urged them to make best use of the materials as there is more to come. For his part, the alkalo of the village, Kalilou Kolly thanked the donors for the gesture. He disclosed that they have previously assisted the village health centre with lots of facilities and are already sponsoring some students.
