Wednesday, May 16, 2012

The National Students Insurance Club (NSIC) Friday lectured Gambia Senior Secondary School (GSSS) students on the importance of insurance club in their school at a briefing held at the GSSS hall, in Banjul.

Speaking at the briefing, Outass Omar M. Drammeh, Islamic teacher at Gambia Senior Secondary School revealed that they decided to establish such a club in the school because the insurance companies came together under one umbrella in order to become more powerful.

He explained that to work in an insurance company one needs further training especially inline with insurance. He also said that they want to establish the club in the school in order for the students to benefit and know the importance of insurance in their environment. Oustass Drammeh finally revealed that 10 active members would be chosen for scholarship.

On his part, Ebou ML Jammeh, marketing officer at Capital Express Life Assurance, said their main focus is to provide scholarship and create employment to help Gambian students who have just completed their Grade 12. He added that they are also creating employment for the active members so that they can train them in any insurance company.

Amadou Bah, marketing officer at Capital Express Life Assurance revealed that the insurance club was established 22nd March, 2009 and inaugurated on the 22nd March, 2011 at Saint Augustine’s Senior Secondary School. He further revealed that Capital Express Life Assurance and Gamstar Insurance Company are partnering with the National Students Insurance Club, noting that the partnership would go a long way in reducing the unemployment rate in the country.

According to him, Capital Express Life Assurance is the one creating employment for them whilst Gamstar Insurance Company is the one willing to provide scholarships to the active members. He finally thanked the two companies for their benevolence.
