Observer bids farewell to colleague

The Observer Company, publisher of the Daily Observer Newspaper, on Tuesday bade farewell to Veronica Mendy-Gowin who was working at the Company's Marketing Department.

Veronica Mendy-Gowin, who joined the Company in 2007, has now resigned in order to support her husband in his philanthropic work. Veronica has been working extra-mile, wholeheartedly and with maximum respect to ensure that the Observer Company moves to a higher level especially in terms of marketing. It is for this reason that the management and staff of the company assembled at the managing director's office to say thank you and not goodbye to Veronica Mendy-Gowin, as she will always be in the hearts and minds of the staff.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lamin Dibba, head of the Marketing Department described Veronica as an exemplary staff. He said she was very committed in her work, adding that they will surely miss such a dedicated staff member at the Marketing Department. He finally wished her good luck in all her endeavours and challenged her to keep up the spirit of commitment, dedication and hard work that she has been known for.

For his part, Pa Malick Faye, the managing director of the Observer Company underscored the importance of honesty, respect and tolerance each and every individual should possess in any given environment, noting that Veronica was a person who possessed all these qualities. He said the good deeds of Veronica would always be in the minds of the staff.

MD Faye who was moved by Veronica's good record at the Observer Company, described her as someone who is still part and parcel of the Observer family. "This is the beauty of life, when one is leaving and people are crying, it means that the individual has done good in the Company and was at peace with everyone," he said. He went further to urge staff of Company to continue the teamwork as well as to maintain the spirit of respect, honesty and tolerance. He also expressed the management's appreciation of Veronica's good reputation and her relentless service in promoting the Company.

He finally wished her good luck in her endeavours. For her part, Veronica Mendy Gowin, did not hide her emotion as she thanked the management under the leadership of Pa Malick Faye for all the support and encouragement given to her in the Company. She did not hesitate to urge her colleagues to be united and be dedicated in order to take the Company to  a higher level.

Other speakers included Hatab Fadera, Amadou Jallow, Gibairu Janneh, Sheriff Janko and Sanna Jawara, all senior reporters; Assan Sallah and Mariatou Ngum-Saidy, editors; Michael Jatta, senior marketing officer; and Ebrima Halil Njie of the Security Department. They all described Veronica as someone who has established a good relationship with every staff of the Company, and challenged her to keep up the momentum, wishing her good luck in all her endeavours.
