Observer Company now in Kanifing ...clocks 17 todayMonday, May 11, 2009 The Observer Company, publisher of the Daily Observer newspaper, last Friday, May 8, 2009, finally moved to its new offices located in the Kanifing Industrial area, after Gamwater. Among the activities for the event, was the recitation of the Holy Quran by Islamic scholars, among others. Alhagie Seedia Ceesay, deputy Imam of State House Mosque, said that journalists play a crucial role, both in the development and teaching of Islam. According to him, the Holy Qurían has recognised the services of journalists, adding that journalists should be accurate and truthful in their reporting. Imam Ceesay emphasised the important role journalists play in society and urged Observer reporters, management and the entire staff to keep up the good work and maintain accuracy, by informing the world about the true picture in The Gambia. He renewed their partnership with Observer in promoting the Islamic religion and for also creating awareness about the importance of Islam. The Imam suggested the establishment of a mosque within the new complex and further appealed for Observer to cover their Friday prayers. In response, Pa Malick Faye, acting managing director of the Observer Company, thanked the Imam and his team for their efforts. He assured them that Observer will continue inform the public about the true picture in the country. Acting MD Faye assured them that the Daily Observer will start covering their Friday sermons from now onwards as requested. He called for their continued prayers for the company and its proprietor. 17th anniversary Reader may also note that the Observer Company is 17 years old today, Monday May 11, 2009. Founded in 1992, the Observer Company has registered tremendous achievements over the year. In honor of the day, the management thanked the entire staff for their commitment, dedication and hard work over the years. Management also thanked the proprietor for the support especially in the allocation of new premises for the company in Kanifing where the company's offices are now located. Management also salutes the frequent readers and customers for their support over the years and hopes that the excellent relationship will continued for the betterment of all.
