Observer deputy editor-in-chief off to Taiwan

Alhagie Jobe, one of  deputy editor-in-chiefs of the Daily Observer newspaper, yesterday left Banjul for Taipei, the Republic of China on Taiwan, to attend training on Taiwan's media Development under the invitation of the International Cooperation and Development Fund through the Taiwanese embassy in The Gambia.

Organised by the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF), the ten day training will bring together 25 journalist and professionals from the print/broadcasting media. The workshop aims at introducing Taiwan's media industries to participants from friendly and allied countries.

Speaking to this reporter shortly before his departure, Jobe thanked the embassy of the Republic of China on Taiwan in The Gambia for inviting him through the Observer newspaper to attend this training. He described it as a clear manifestation of the cordial relations between the people of Taiwan and The Gambia. According to him, the people of Taiwan, through its embassy in Banjul has ever been contributing greatly to the socio-economic development of the Gambia and such a rear opportunity is not a surprise. "Not only in the media field, but the Taiwanese support the Gambia in all course, be it health, agriculture, education and all other sectors. So they are true friends of The Gambia.

He then thanked the embassy of the republic of Taiwan in The Gambia and assured them that he will excel at the training. He also thanked the management of the Observer Company for nominating him to attend the training. Jobe is expected back in The Gambia on August 1st, 2009.
