Observer Sports Editor leaves for JohannesburgTuesday, June 15, 2010 Nanama Keita, Sports Editor of the Daily Observer, left Banjul this morning for Johannesburg, South Africa, to cover the on-going 2010 FIFA World Cup. Keita, who was among 18 selected journalists from over 35 African countries, has his trip solely covered by the Twenty Ten Project - a multi-disciplinary media project that aims to use African journalists to tell Africa's story during the continent's first-ever World Cup finals in South Africa. Speaking to Observer Sports shortly before his departure, Keita thanked the Twenty Ten project initiators for their great foresight for African journalists in offering them the opportunity to present their own view of African reality, as opposed to depending on foreign news organisations. He also hailed the selection panel for the trust and confidence they have in him by selecting him as one of the 18 best journalists to travel to the Rainbow nation.I see the trip to the World Cup as a once-in-a lifetime opportunity and I hope to make the best use of it," concluded the Observer Sports chief who returns home on July 16.
