Oceanic Bank opens in China

Africa » Gambia
Thursday, July 30, 2009
According to reports, Oceanic Bank International Plc has expanded its operations by opening shop in the country that is host to what is undoubtedly one of the world's biggest economies, mainland China.

According to a statement from the bank, its expansion to Asian is in line "with Oceanic Bank's desire to grow its business globally." Speaking after the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC)  approved Oceanic's application for a representative office in Beijing, Dr Cecilia Ibru, Chief Executive Officer of the bank, said that the move  "was born out of the fact that the bank wants to service its Chinese clients better and also leverage on the growth fundamentals of the Chinese economy", which is one of fastest growing in the world.

China's huge market, it has a population of approximately 1.5 billion people, make it one of the most sought after in the world.  The entry of Oceanic Bank into China has been lauded by many analysts who have generally commended the bank's management for this accomplishment. According to Dr Ibru, the bank's continued expansion is meant to enable it to track its numerous customers and to make banking more convenient and stress-free for them in line with the bank's customer-oriented policy.

The bank's success and remarkable performance are attributed to its management's focused strategy, sound financial and continuous strive for excellence.
