In an effort to curb the menace of heavy flooding in Old Jeshwang, Sheriff Sarr, the Councillor of Old Jeshwang ward, recently embarked on a self help project, locally called Tesitoo to spread trips of stones and sand in the flooded streets of Old Jeshwang.

In an interview with Daily Observer, Sheriff Sarr said he was elected into office by his people to serve them. He added that he will continue to strive hard to ensure that his people are living in a comfortable environment especially during the rainy season. Councillor Sarr informed this paper that the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) supported him with trucks to collect trips of sand and stones and fill the flooded areas in his ward. "On behalf of President Jammeh and the Lord Mayor of KMC, I would like to thank the people of my ward for the support they have given to the APRC Party, as well as their contribution to the socio-economic development of the country," he said.

"Old Jeshwang has been suffering from heavy flooding during the past years but this year, if God wish, flooding will be a thing of the past because we are preparing for it in advance," Councillor Sarr remarked. Commenting on the D8M market project, which is currently under construction in Old Jeshwang, Councillor Sheriff Sarr expressed optimism that more development projects are in the offing for the people of his area.

He highlighted the street taps project as another major development project, which the people of Old Jeshwang will soon benefit from. Councillor Sarr finally called on the youths of Old Jeshwang to work hard for their community as future leaders.
